Dave Marsland is in Chester for the newly opened TBC.
Chester’s bar scene has always shown promise but still doesn’t get much of a mention in the national conversation.
TBC could change that. The brainchild of Calum Adams and Sammy Sale, TBC takes its name from the project’s working title and sees a large space on Watergate Street transformed.
With a minimal look that offers plenty of wooden tables backed on to the walls, there is plush seating 7/10 alongside inviting stools for the poser tables dotted around them.
The bar itself sees a good selection of spirits to entice even the most casual Chester punter and with an opening menu of classics, spritzes, and zero-booze options, the menu is accessible too.
The signatures are more ambitious, with Pretty Little Thing (Two Drifters white rum, Clément Blanc 40, El Bandarra and strawberry) and OMG (Omija Berry Altos, mandarin and gochujang) offering a something a little different. We’ll see if the Chester clientele go for the décor, but the cocktails and the team are ready for them.
