Agave bar Ojo Rojo in Bournemouth is to close at the end of summer, it has been annouced.
Co-founder Trevor Hill said that despite the bar's "unforgetable" nine years of business, the "realities of running a large venue in the town centre have become impossible to ignore" and that costs had risen "in every direction" while "footfall hasn't risen to match those costs".
The plan, Hill said, is to move the bar to one of Bournemouth's "vibrant suburbs where the buzz is strong, and the opportunity is clear".
Ojo Rojo - a former CLASS Bar Awards finalist - was opened in 2016 by Hill and JJ Adams.
Hill said: "After nearly a decade of mezcal, tacos, and unforgettable nights, we’re closing the doors to our beloved town centre venue — but not because we’ve failed. Because we’re evolving. This isn’t a goodbye to Ojo Rojo. It’s the beginning of a new chapter.
"We’re taking everything we’ve learned, everything that made this place magic, and rebuilding it in a way that’s sharper, more focused, and built for the future."
