Sexy Fish launched a Manchester branch this autumn - Class reviewer Dave Marsland paid the bar a visit.

With news of one of London’s most famous Asian-inspired venues coming to Manchester’s Spinningfields first leaking in 2021, the hype had built to heady levels.

Launched this autumn, Sexy Fish lives up to it. With stunning use of vibrant colours, a cascading waterfall and attention to detail in every element of its design, it knocks it out of the park. The space has been used well – the bar is where I head, but equally the booths provide a vantage point to taking in both sides to the open plan layout.

The service is on point too, with warm and pleasant staff, finding that balance of not being overbearing. Also finely balanced is the perception of this venue being food or wet led – at no point did I feel like I should be ordering food, when I was just here for the drinks.

Speaking of which, the menu makes for intriguing reading – Lime & Mint, being rum-driven with splashes of absinthe, catches my eye – and delivers. I’m looking forward to coming again to try more.
