CLASS reviewer for the North, Dave Marsland, stops by Red Light in Manchester.

Located within the newly revamped Kampus area of Manchester, Red Light is slightly hidden down a side street with a handful of tables set outside to capture what they can of the Manchester sun.

With its exposed brick walls, dark interior with flashes of white light and cream seating, it doesn’t have the most welcoming of vibes, but the drinks do make up for this.

Offering a menu of classic twists and unique serves, highlights include The Spice Trader with rum, coconut, coffee and pineapple, and Pornstar Chic with Cocchi Americano, Muyu Jasmine Verte, passion fruit and prosecco.

Both bring an air of creativity. The offering, though, does fall down on value for money, as the surprisingly high prices per serve, coupled with added service charge, really puts it on a shelf with the city’s top operators – not company it can keep.
