Trailer Happiness’ Sly Augustin and hospitality consultant Maiko Neill are to launch restaurant Portobello 177 in Notting Hill on October 4th.

The partners – in the business and life – are joined by head chef Shay Ola of the Rebel Dining Society, who aims to bring his “experimental approach to flavour layering” to the restaurant, with contemporary, sharing-style dishes with a focus on sustainability and seasonality, and a nod to Caribbean and Japanese barbecue culture.

There will be an "extensive" wine list on offer featuring an array of bio natural wines, while cocktails will spotlight small-batch distillers, with a weekly rotation of five cocktails, categorised as The Stirred One, The Sour One, The Fun One, The Tall One and The Fizzy One.

Portobello 177 will feature a bottle shop, allowing customers to purchase from a carefully “curated list of high-end spirits” from small distillers in the UK and around the world. The list will include exclusive limited-edition bottles from brands such as Ninefold in Scotland and Worthy Park in Jamaica. It will focus on rum but will also include esoteric bottles such as Bayab who produce African Gin and Agave spirits.

Agustin and Neill said: “It was always a dream to own a restaurant on Portobello Road, and to create a special and welcoming food destination, unique to the area, that really celebrates incredible flavour and produce at the heart of its menu. We’re so excited to bring Portobello 177 to this vibrant neighbourhood”.
