Islington tropical bar and Thai restaurant, Laki Kane, has announced the launch of a new menu inspired by rum history through the lens of modern mixology.

Tropical Speakeasy, boasts nine cocktails born from the tropical Indonesian punch recipe of sweet, sour, strong, weak, and spice that dates back to the beginning of the 17th century.

“At Laki Kane, we believe that cocktails are more than just drinks; they are an art form,” said Georgi Radev, co-founder of Laki Kane.

“With the Tropical Speakeasy cocktail menu, we wanted to push the boundaries of mixology and bridge the gap between classic style drinks, bartending, tropical, and tiki.”

Highlights include Mr Vice, a clarified take on a Miami Vice, Tiramisu Manhattan, a cocktail interpretation of the classic dessert, and the Pandan Colada.

The Topical Speakeasy is available at Laki Kane from 26 July.
